Differences in Psychologist, Counselor, and Psychiatrist:
​Counselor- Counselors work with clients to help them learn emotional regulation skills by providing talk therapy. Counselors often work in a private practice or mental health setting. Counselor, Social Worker and Therapist are often used interchangeably.
​Psychologist- Psychologist provide psychological evaluation and diagnostic testing. Psychologist assess client’s behavior, intellectual functioning and personality.
Psychiatrist- Psychiatrists are medical doctors who complete specialized training. Psychiatrists are able to prescribe medications for a variety of different diagnosis.
