Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Therapy That Gives You Real Skills for Real Life
At Coping Forward Counseling, we focus primarily on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). DBT is designed to help you build practical skills for regulating emotions, managing anxiety, improving communication, and handling life’s challenges with more balance and resilience.

We believe therapy should leave you with tools you can use outside of session — not just good conversations that fade once you log off. That’s why our work always includes skill-building, hands-on practice, and resources like worksheets, podcasts, and groups. The goal is for you to leave therapy with confidence and strategies that truly support your everyday life.

With DBT, you’ll learn practical skills that make everyday life feel more manageable, balanced, and connected.
DBT Helps You:
  • Manage overwhelming emotions without feeling controlled by them
  • Reduce anxiety and stress with grounding and coping strategies
  • Build healthier relationships through stronger communication and boundaries
  • Handle conflict more effectively without shutting down or exploding
  • Stay present instead of getting stuck in overthinking or worry
  • Find balance between acceptance of what is and motivation to change what you can

Therapy That Gives You Real Skills for Real Life
At Coping Forward Counseling, therapy isn’t just talk — it’s about learning DBT-based tools you can actually use in your everyday life.
  • Anxiety & StressQuiet the constant “what ifs,” calm racing thoughts, and learn tools to manage worry, panic, and burnout.
  • Relationships & BoundariesBuild stronger connections by setting limits, communicating clearly, and navigating family, dating, or co-parenting stress.

Finding Hope and Healing from Depression and Mood Disorders

You Deserve to Feel Like Yourself Again

If you’ve been feeling disconnected, unmotivated, or overwhelmed by life, you’re not alone. Many women — at every stage of life — experience depression or mood struggles while trying to balance work, relationships, family, and the constant pressure to hold it all together. You may notice changes in sleep or appetite, emotional ups and downs, or a growing sense of isolation — and wonder if anyone else feels the same way. (They do.)

At Coping Forward Counseling, therapy is a safe, supportive space to understand what’s really going on beneath the surface. Depression isn’t a sign of weakness — it’s a signal that something needs care and attention.

Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), we’ll work together to:

  • Understand and regulate emotions
  • Build healthy boundaries and relationships
  • Identify the root causes of depression
  • Learn practical coping tools for everyday life

You don’t have to face this alone. With guidance and support, healing is possible — and you can rediscover hope, confidence, and balance again.

Anxiety Therapy for Women and Teens

Helping You Worry Less and Live More

Are you tired of feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or on edge? Do you ever:

  • Lie awake at night replaying conversations or worrying about tomorrow

  • Avoid social plans or phone calls because you “just can’t deal”

  • Overcommit yourself at the risk of letting others down

  • Say yes when you want to say no, to keep the peace - or maybe because "it's just easier to say yes"

  • Feel your mind racing even when you finally sit down to rest

You’re not alone. Anxiety looks different for everyone and can quietly take over your thoughts, energy, and emotions — making everyday life feel like a constant uphill climb.

At Coping Forward Counseling, we offer evidence-based therapy designed to help you find calm, clarity, and confidence again. Together, we’ll work to:

  • Understand your anxiety triggers and patterns
  • Quiet intrusive thoughts and ease tension

  • Build practical coping tools you can actually use

  • Strengthen your self-esteem and relationships

We also support women and teens through major life changes, career stress, relationship struggles, and self-doubt — because anxiety rarely exists on its own.

If you’ve tried managing it on your own but still feel stuck, therapy can help. Together, we’ll create space for understanding, healing, and lasting change — so you can move forward with balance and peace.

Personalized Substance Use Therapy & Support

Through evidence-based approaches like DBT and Motivational Interviewing, we help clients explore their relationship with substances, rebuild confidence, and create lasting change.

If you or someone you love feels trapped in a cycle of substance use, unsure how to stop, or overwhelmed by emotions and relationships — you’re not alone.
Recognizing the need for help takes courage. Admitting that alcohol or drugs may be affecting your life is a powerful first step toward healing.
We offer a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore your relationship with substances and the challenges that come with recovery. Using evidence-based methods like Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), we’ll work together to:

  • Identify your readiness to change
  • Understand emotional triggers and internal struggles
  • Build healthier coping skills and strategies for daily life

Recovery looks different for everyone. If you’re not ready to stop entirely, we can focus on harm reduction, emotional stability, and maintaining healthy relationships.

As a licensed substance abuse counselor since 2011, Carrie has worked across detox programs, 28-day inpatient care, and outpatient services — helping individuals and families navigate addiction with compassion and clarity.

Wherever you are in your journey, we'll meet you there. Together, we’ll take steady steps toward healing, resilience, and a more hopeful future.
